April 2023 Houston NIBRS Report Provides Glimpse Into Where Rapes Occur In Houston

LegalPI

Most Houstonians are aware that a rape or sexual assault attack can happen anytime, at virtually any place, to pretty much anyone. In addition to rapes and sexual assault attacks that happen in the home, rapes and sexual assaults happen in parking lots, public garages, gyms, the grocery store, convenience stores, fitness centers, and pretty much any place imaginable. But where do rapes occur in Houston in 2023? The National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIRBS) April 2023 report provides the most up-to-date data on reported rape incidents in Houston, and offers a glimpse into just where rapes recently occur in Houston.

Rapes in Houston Don’t Just Happen at Home

The NIBRS report provides the date and detailed information of each reported criminal offense in Houston. With dozens of rape offenses on the list, the sheer number of rape offenses is overwhelming. Where the rapes occur also may be a surprise to Houston residents. Not all rapes happen in the home, and may occurred in public spaces. For example, here are some of the reported rape offenses included in the report:

  • On January 1, a forcible rape occurred on a “Highway, Street, or Alley” on Wickview Lane in Houston;
  • On January 2, a forcible rape occurred on a “Highway, Street, or Alley” on Wilcrest Drive in Houston;
  • On January 3, a forcible rape occurred at a “Service, Gas Station” near the Loop in Houston;
  • On January 5, a forcible rape occurred at a “Hotel, Motel, ETC” on Parker Road in Houston;
  • On February 5, a forcible rape occurred at a “Park, Playground” on Hunting Estates Drive in Houston;
  • On February 8, a forcible rape occurred at a “Hotel, Motel, ETC” on Park Row Drive in Houston;
  • On February 11, a forcible rape occurred at a “Restaurant” on Crosstimbers Street in Houston;
  • Also on February 11, a forcible rape occurred at a “Shopping Mall” near Katy Freeway in Houston;
  • On March 3, a forcible rape occurred at a “Government, Public Building” on Cullen Boulevard in Houston;

  • Also on April 22, a forcible rape occurred on a “Highway, Street, or Alley” on Greens Street in Houston;
